Lieutenant Anthony Nunzio was a squad commander of the 144th Precinct in New York City, 1973 who was a long-standing rival of Lt. Gene Hunt and the 125th Precinct. After working together to bring down Vasilli Lukin, they resolved their differences and their rivalry.

Early LifeEdit

As young men, Anthony Nunzio and Gene Hunt were once friends. In 1943, they attended a Knights of Columbus dance where they discovered Angela Venezia, an Italian-American girl to whom they were both attracted. Nunzio made the first move, however Venezia chose Hunt, which angered Nunzio and began an ongoing rivalry. Eventually, Nunzio joined the NYPD to the 144th Precinct, where he later earned the rank of Lieutenant. The rivalry between him and Hunt expanded into a greater constant friction between his precinct and Hunt's precinct

Prior to 1973Edit

In the years leading to 1973, Nunzio and his team were involved in several investigations which were taken over by Hunt. During the investigation of a bank heist, the case was taken over by Lieutenant Hunt because Nunzio had criticised his team to the Chief of Police.

In 1973, months after the arrival of Det. Sam Tyler, Anthony Nunzio accidentally caused the suicide of Ruben Penzler following the use of a failed "persuasion technique". The suicide was blamed on Lt. Hunt and his precinct who were present at the suicide negotiation before Nunzio.

1973 Bank robberyEdit

On the same day as the suicide of Ruben Penzler, the 144th Precinct and the 125th Precinct competed with each other to investigate the robbery of $10,000 from a New York bank. (LoM Take a Look at the Lawmen)
