Noreen Kershaw (born October 16, 1950 in Bury, Lancashire, England) is an English director and actress
who portrays WPC Phyllis Dobbs, the desk officer in the BBC television series Life on Mars. Bury is a mere eight miles from Manchester itself.
Ms Kershaw originated the title role of the play Shirley Valentine, later made famous on film by Pauline Collins. From 1991–1993 she played in the long-running sitcom, Watching. She also works as a television director, directing episodes of the top-rated ITV1 soap opera, Coronation Street, the comedy drama, Shameless, ITV1 series Emmerdale and Heartbeat and BBC Scotland"s River City. In 2008, she directed the feature film Act of Grace.
