Rainbow was a children's television programme that intended to develop the language and number skills of the young viewers. The programme aired from 1972 to 1992, and developed a cult following, mainly after its cancellation and frequently involving marijuana use. Two of the most iconic characters from Rainbow are Zippy and George the hippo, who helped present the show.
When Alex Drake awoke in 1981, she attempted to pick up some voices from 2008 on the television in Fenchurch East police station, just as Sam Tyler did in 1973. She tried the programme Rainbow but was unsuccessful.
